Events

The past few days have been full of events.  Mainly the kind of events that you don't want to participate in.
It all started on Thursday when we got word that a precious lady went to Heaven along with her grandson.  Just devastating.  One of the most well respected and loved families I've ever known in my life.  The upside to that is...Heaven.  A very real, wonderful place because JESUS is there!!  Oh to get to see Him face to face in all of His glory.  To feel His hand in your hand.  Oh Heaven just cannot be described by our limited vocabulary!!
Then yesterday morning, we received news that a neighbor was shot and killed by police. WHAT!!  Yes.  This poor man had been to my door before and did yard work for us.  We saw him every single day walking in front of our house in our neighborhood doing yardwork, etc. for others around us.  Just totally shocking.
Here's the link to the news story:  http://www.katc.com/news/family-comments-on-police-shooting/
The people in my house never once shared Jesus with this man.  I have since repented and I am determined that this neighborhood is going to hear about Jesus.  The One who can change their lives and make them new and whole.  The One who can heal their hearts and give them the water that they will never thirst again.  Not religion.  But, Jesus.
It's been a very sobering few days.

About Heaven - Won't it be WONDERFUL THERE!!

Dear New Orleans,
My family and I are coming there for my husband to do a job for someone.

"Your boys were so well behaved while you were in our store!"

"Your boys were so well-behaved while you were in our store!" said the lady who checked us out today at the local school supply business.  That's one comment we haven't gotten alot of with Nathan.  Until today.  After the week we've had, that was a major blessing straight from God!!
Nathan has always been this whiney, crying, "nobody wants to hang around with type of kid."  Also the kind of kid nobody wants to take to the store with them. UGH!!
That has all changed and is continuing to change.  John got the book "Have a New Kid by Friday" by Dr. Kevin Leman and read it.  This all started this past Sunday evening.  We implemented some of the ideas in this book.  I seriously thought I was going to have to get nerve pills to get through it.
But, with MUCH prayer and perserverence, here we are "on this side" of things.  When Nathan would start his little meltdowns, we put him in our room (sitting him on our bed), walk out and simply shut the door.  Staying calm ourselves in the process.  Also, letting him know and understand he would not be playing on the computer or watching tv.  He LOVES to play games at NickJr.com or Sprout for kids.  He got the message.
Today, we had a pleasant outing with Destiny and the small boys.  We call them "the little boys" or the "babies".  Hagin is only 18 months old and Nathan 5 years old.
We were able to go to the school supply store and look around/shop with NO meltdowns.  Then we went to Raising Canes for some lunch.  NO meltdowns.  NOW we're getting compliments after only one week of this.  It's wonderful!!!
This was taken at "Whataburger" last weekend.
Monday was our first day of school!!  Fun times!!

Love me some lil boys!!!!  Looking forward to seeing Nathan blossom into a strong man of God and all the good things He has instore for Nathan!!

Hagin too!!  A future full of good straight ahead!!

Nathan and Hagin

Nathan and Hagin.  They're the youngest kids in this family.  Nathan is 5 and Hagin is 18 months.
So, day before yesterday, I made a batch of brownies.  We like our brownies kinda fudgy like.  Nice and chewy.  Nathan really likes brownies.
I had given him a very small piece of one.  After he had eaten it, awhile later, he came to me and said, "Mama, I want another brownie one more time!" :)

Now, Hagin is 18 months old.  He is bound and determined to keep up with Nathan.  Oh yes.  I am noticing how he really picks up on things.  Today, I opened a package of sandwich ham and set the little part that zips open on the table.  I told Hagin to put that in the trash for me...he comes over, picks it up, looks at it, and runs and throws it in the trash.  Now, I'm sure your 18  month old is a sheer genious, but to me, I thought that was pretty good.

As a stay at home wife and mother of 6, I try to find the funny things in life.  The joy of the Lord is my strength.  There's plenty in this world to weep over, be heavy hearted over, be sad over, etc.  But, God gave us a sense of humor.  Some people need to use their's more!!
This is Hagin.  He was eating a piece of turkey bacon!! hahaha  He's my lil bacon bit!!

My little birthday boy!!  5 years old!!!

Not only are these the days of my life...but the reason I get up and have days!!!
